- This is a form of headache that comes about due to irritation of the occipital nerves at the top of the neck.

- The pain can be felt like it’s starting along the upper neck and at the back of the head.

- With some people it will also travel around to the forehead

- The pain can be throbbing, aching, burning, or a sharp and stabbing pain.

- The pain might be one side or both sides.

- Symptoms such as a sensitivity to light or sound are sometimes present.
